– Busy girl who entertains herself very well – just give her a squeaky plush toy and she’ll run around with it, fling it, chase it and do it all over again – she’s very entertaining! – Knows sit and likely knows down; is very food-motivated, which is great for training and building a relationship with her – Curious and energetic and loves to check everything out; would likely be a fun adventure dog who is up for any walk, hike or trail – May need time to get comfortable with new people and prefers to take her time and meet people when she’s ready vs. having them come to her; once she is comfortable with someone, she likes pets and loves spending time with them – Not too big, not too small – just the right size to take everywhere – Because she can be very reserved with new people and nervous around fast movements, she is looking for a teens-and-up home where all family members can understand her needs and help her with confidence building – Can be uncertain and introverted around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; when given time to warm up, she becomes looser and may even attempt to initiate play, so she may enjoy a like-minded dog in her new home after a slow introduction (dog intro recommended) – We don’t know her history with cats This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
