– Loves people and will come to you and ask for pets; also loves playing with toys – Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he’s in a home environment and has had time to decompress – Knows sit and likes treats – Was crate-trained and mostly potty trained in his previous home, although he would have accidents sometimes – Has lived with teenagers but young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him; would benefit from a more mature home where all family members are old enough to work with him on confidence-building – Has spent time in dog play groups here at the shelter and will wrestle and play chase; generally got along well with the other dogs and listened to their signals – May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; may do best with a more relaxed, low-key dog friend and would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro recommended) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
