HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet her, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org. — – Shy girl who may need extra time to warm up to new people and things; has been getting braver every day in her foster home and is looking for someone who will be patient with her as she continues to build confidence – Once she feels comfortable, she loves being with you and may wiggle into your lap for pets; her foster family said she’s kind of a bed hog but definitely a cuddler – Recently went on a Dog’s Day Out field trip: “Arbor is a GREAT dog. She listens well and didn’t pull when we walked. She’s extremely sweet and a bit cautious about others, but warmed up quickly to my other half.” – Enjoys squeaky toys and loves being outside on her foster family’s balcony enjoying the weather and view – Knows sit and kennels well – Has been fully potty trained in her foster home and will sit by the door and whine when she needs to go out; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine – Young, active children will likely be too much for her right now, so she’s looking for a teens-and-up home where everyone understands dog body language – Tends to be an introvert around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may benefit from a confident but calm dog friend in her new home (dog intro required) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
