HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet him, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org. — – Came from a situation where he did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age; because of this, he may struggle with new situations, show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, need help understanding leashes, and need patience and structure with housetraining – If other dogs are being petted, he’ll nudge his way in for cuddles, too; prefers to come to you vs. you coming to him, and prefers to be on the ground vs. in a lap – Can be pretty vocal when someone new comes over, but he quiets down in a minute and wants to be near them – Has learned to use a doggie door to go outside to potty – Likes to chew on plush toys, and loves chicken and boiled eggs as treats – Was a good boy for a recent haircut and bath in his foster home – Gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home, as well as the neighbor dogs that come over to visit; likes spending time with them and really relaxes around them; we recommend that he go to a home with another dog – May not do well in a busy home with young children The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
