HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.

– Perfect companion who wants to be with you always; will follow you wherever you go and loves to sleep in bed with you

– Loves to lounge but also gets very excited to go for walks

– Loves to carry a ball around and will play fetch but may not always want to give it back

– Recently went on a Dog’s Day Out field trip: “Dex is a very sweet and kind dog. He did great riding in the car. He even snuggled with my daughter as we were driving. He absolutely loved watching kids play at the park. He would get so excited with the kids around. He also got to experience putting his paws in a creek. He loved getting a cool drink of water.”

– Loves to eat and loves treats

– Has been fully potty trained in his foster home and is able to be left with free roam of the house day and night; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine

– Has had great interactions with multiple school-age kids and may enjoy a home with mature children

– Has done great with other dogs in his foster home; doesn’t really play with them but enjoys hanging out with them and may enjoy a like-minded dog friend; especially enjoys a dog friend when his people are gone

This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
