– Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once she’s in a home environment and has had time to decompress – Loves toys and likes giving kisses – Does well on a leash – Recently went on a Dog’s Day Out field trip: “Jade is such a sweetheart! She loved sniffing around and investigating and enjoyed the walk. She loved pets and belly rubs, enjoyed a brushing and had some cuddle time. She didn’t play much with toys and didn’t want any treats. She was mellow and sweet.” – Has a history of being stressed by young, noisy or busy children, but has done OK with kids who are calm and polite (mature home recommended) – Has done well with like-minded dogs and may enjoy a dog friend in her new home – Has struggled with medical handling, specifically needles, and would benefit from a veterinarian who uses Fear Free techniques This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
