Marty
Animal ID: 286373 |
![]() |
– Can be very slow to warm up to new people and environments – it took 1-2 days for him to settle into a foster home – but once he has decompressed he will be your tiny little shadow and follow you everywhere – Naps on the couch like he was born to do – Has a puppy personality at heart and you’ll see glimpses of it as he becomes more relaxed with you – Spent time in a foster home and still needs some help with potty training, but with routine and lots of snacks for rewards, we think he could learn quickly – Did pretty well free-roaming when left alone in his foster home; could be vocal but otherwise did OK – Does well on a leash – Will likely be happiest in a calm, quiet home – Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him; would benefit from a home with more mature family members who can work with him on confidence-building – Is apprehensive about new friends of all species and may need time to warm up but would likely be successful with calm, confident animal friends; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction (dog intro required) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
