When two mama cats arrived at the shelter together, they had with them not two, not four, but eighteen kittens — nine of them just 2 weeks old, and nine more only 5 weeks old. Eighteen vulnerable babies and two tired mamas, all arriving at once, all in need of care.
These 18 little ones are now safe in our Kitten Nursery, receiving the care they need to survive and grow. But they – and the nearly 200 other kittens in our care – are just the beginning.
In the coming months, thousands more fragile kittens will arrive — some with mothers, many orphaned and alone. They will depend on expert, round-the-clock care. Many will need bottle feedings every few hours, lifesaving heat support, medical treatment, foster homes, and more. On top of that, all will need vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries before they’re ready for adoption.
