Crisis Care

Crisis Care

The ARL’s Crisis Care Program is intended to help keep families together while they are facing hardships such as domestic violence, hospitalization, and/or natural disasters. With the help of fosters, we do our best to provide the pet(s) with short-term care, veterinary care and exams and food. We also provide vaccinations, microchips, and other pet-care resources to enhance well-being and stability once everyone is reunited.

The Crisis Care program works with the family/individual and community service providers to create a safe and appropriate care plan for reunification. By providing these temporary resources, the Crisis Care program prevents pet owners from being permanently separated from their pets and reduces further heartache during an already stressful time.

  • For any Domestic Violence cases, you must be referred to this program through a human service organization.
  • For Hospitalization cases, we must have a reliable source of communication with the owner and/or a designated representative either through the family or through the hospital.
  • After 30 days, patrons will need to re-apply for Crisis Care to determine if we can continue the program.
  • Any Crisis Care pet that is unaltered must be altered before going back home.

The ARL tries to assist as many individuals as possible, but cannot provide assistance to the following situations:

  • We CANNOT help with any incarceration cases
  • We CANNOT help if your public records do not align with what you have stated in your Request Form.
  • We CANNOT help if your public record has any assault charges, domestic violence related charges, breaches of no-contact orders, or interference with official acts.
