New Volunteers

1. Submit an application, sign a volunteer waiver, and pay our one-time fee for a background check and volunteer T-shirt.
2. When your application is accepted (within 7 days of your submission), you’ll receive an email to an online, self-paced orientation.
3. Complete the volunteer orientation, where you’ll learn about the ARL’s mission, history, and values, and explore different volunteer roles.
4. Sign up for a shift!

• Complete two volunteer shifts per month for a minimum of 6 months.
• Complete the onboarding process.
• Have a working email address.
• Background checks are required for all volunteers.
  • We do not accommodate individuals with past or present assault, harassment, theft, or animal neglect/abuse charges.
• Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age.
  • Ages 10-16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their shift.
  • 17-year-olds can volunteer with a parent or guardian signature.
