Knit a cozy bed for a homeless pet
Join a group of volunteers who knit or crochet beds for the cats at the ARL. The cats love these cozy pieces, and it helps to give them a feeling of home while they are in our care at the ARL.
How To Join
- Create your volunteer profile
- Select Knittin' For Kittens as your general interest
- Then, once your knit is finished, kindly drop off your masterpieces at our Main location during normal business hours!
If you are a current volunteer, sign in to your MyImpact profile to log your hours.
Yarn
The ARL receives generous donations of yarn from local yarn shops and local knitters. Knittin' for Kitten volunteers can use yarn from their own stash, or use the donated yarn when knitting beds for the cats in our care. Donated yarn can be picked up in the Humane Education room at our Main location between the hours of 12 pm - 6 pm, M-F or 10 am - 6 pm, Sat/Sun.
Interested in donating yarn or have a favorite yarn shop?
The ARL is looking for local yarn shops to host donation bins for yarn skeens that aren't quite big enough to make a sweater, but purr-fect for making a cat blanket!
We accept donations of standard acrylic yarn and knits. We cannot accept long fibered yarn (i.e. eyelash yarn, roving wool, etc).
