HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.

---

- Petite, quiet girl who cautiously enjoys being around humans

- Playful kitty who likes toy balls, fishing pole toys, and catnip toys

- Likes sitting in a cat tree by a window, especially when it is sunny

- Prefers affection on her terms. Will occasionally sit in your lap. Accepts pets on her head and back, but does not like her belly touched. Will purr softly if she wants you to continue petting her

- Has a strong preference for wet food, but does nibble on dry food in between meals, and is always interested in treats. Enjoys drinking from a pet water fountain.

- Does not like loud noises or quick movements - does not get scared enough to hide, but will retreat to a safe distance

- Children are too much for her (calm older kids or no kids preferred)

- Needs to be the only pet in her new home

- Happiest in calm, quiet environment

- Settles into a new place within days, but it may take her a few weeks before she feels completely at home

This cat has shown signs of overstimulation while in the shelter. Lots of handling, playing with hands, and excessive petting can cause them to overstimulate, which can result in scratching and/or biting. This cat is looking for experienced cat owners who will watch this cat's body language while interacting to note signs of overstimulation (tail waving, fur rippling, dilated pupils, ears turned back and quick body movements) and be willing to respect their boundaries. This cat will also benefit from interactive toys such as wands and ball spinners while playing. We are happy to speak with you more when you visit and can provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat mental stimulation, patience and space when they need it, please consider adopting! They would love to be your sidekick and buddy for life!

All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age)
