For nearly 100 years, the ARL has dedicated itself to being a safe haven for animals across Iowa and beyond. With each passing year, the need for these lifesaving efforts grows. We now have a unique opportunity to transform our rescue operations. We began by moving our barn program to a new location just down the road from our Main campus and are now in the process of improving and renovating these new facilities. Next, we will be renovating the previous barn into a rescue facility that will better accommodate large intakes, rescue operations, and animals being saved from disasters. You can be part of this incredible transformation.

An optimal environment for the well-being of our feline residents to support their journey towards adoption.

After a summer of construction, the second floor of the ARL’s Clowder House for cats has been remodeled to create a more ideal environment for cats who need long-term care or have specific behavior needs. Redesigned condo-style living spaces, called Purradise Suites, and a new room layout give cats access to exterior windows and promote their mental well-being in other ways to enhance their stay and help them move toward finding new homes faster.
