At a time when homes are lit with merry holiday lights and presents are wrapped under the tree, Zoey was living a nightmare.
The 6-month-old puppy had suffered serious trauma … and her injuries were shocking. One of her hind legs was severely broken, with half the bone protruding from her skin. She was in terrible pain. Her leg was cold and lifeless — so badly injured that it was unable to be saved. She needed immediate surgery to remove her leg and prevent sepsis from setting in.
But that’s not all. She also had deep wounds on both of her front legs and an infected wound on her neck. She was covered in fleas, and she was severely underweight. When we petted her, we could feel every rib. She had obviously been suffering for quite some time.
We quickly got her into surgery to remove her damaged leg. She is now out of immediate danger, but her healing is just beginning.
