Equine veterinarians ran tests and started him on a recovery plan that included weeks of heavy-duty antibiotics and an easy-to-eat special diet to help him gain weight.
Little by little, Apollo has been improving. He’s eating and drinking better, his head wound has healed, and he has started to fill out. Still, his journey to recovery is just beginning. We estimate he needs to gain about 200 more pounds before he’s at a healthy weight. He also has multiple vet visits in his future, including a special visit for X-rays to try to determine why he’s having issues eating.
