Another urgent rescue: 62 cats

When a private individual suddenly and unexpectedly became the caretaker for 62 cats, they were overwhelmed to say the least. Not knowing where to turn, they reached out to us for help. The cats were an hour away in northern Iowa, but the need was urgent, so our Animal Welfare & Response Team started the hours of preparation needed for an operation of this scale and made the trip to bring all 62 back to the ARL.

At the shelter, our team quickly converted our Activity Center into emergency housing for the new arrivals. Our medical and behavior teams met the cats when they arrived and worked late into the evening examining and providing care to each and every one.

Such a large number of cats is a lot to take on at once, and the cost of caring for them along with the nearly 1,300 other animals already in our care is significant. It’s only because of you that we are able to continue this life-changing work and provide care for pets in need, no matter the situation.

Your support – whether one-time or monthly – will ensure that these cats and so many more get the second chances they deserve. Please give now to show them they can count on you.
