This will focus solely on loose leash walking during each training class\, as well as the real-world skills for application. This will not teach heel\, or skills/cues unrelated to leash walking. Class topics may include the following\, but are often tailored to individual classes. This class runs once a week for three weeks. \n\nA focus on rewarding engagement\nLearn functional skills for leash walking (find it\, watch me\, etc.)\n“Wait” cue for doorways\, crosswalks\, stopping points\, etc.\nFrustration prevention (dog and owner)\nContext/Environment shifts in training\nPossible ‘real world’ scenarios for practice.\nGraduation Certificate\n\nFees\n$100\, 3 sessions of 50-minute lessons. \nNote about Treats\nThe best way to train your pet is through the proper use of positive reinforcement and rewards. Please bring plenty of high-value treats to class\, such as cut-up hot dogs\, cheese\, chicken\, and chewy training treats. Small\, bite-sized\, treats in a pouch or bag. \nPRE-REQUISITES – There are no prerequisites for Loose Leash Bootcamp. This class will not focus on addressing reactivity or fear. \nVACCINATION RECORDS – All adult dogs are required to be date on both distemper (DHPP/DHLPP) and rabies vaccines. Puppies are required to have age appropriate vaccinations based on veterinarian recommendation. Bordetella is highly recommended. \nYour pet’s records need to be received prior to class start.\nPlease email your dogs vaccination records to dogtraining@arl-iowa.org\nPlease have the owner’s name\, the dog’s name and the class dates clearly identified. \nDOG POLICIES – Females currently “IN HEAT” (estrus day 1 – day 21) are not allowed in classes.
