Knit a cozy bed for a homeless pet at the ARL!

Join a group of volunteers who knit or crochet blankets and beds for the cats at the ARL. The cats love these cozy pieces, and it helps to give them a feeling of home while they are in our care at the ARL.

How to join

Submit your volunteer application.
After your application is approved, you will receive instructions on how to sign up for the next event or log your hours from home!
When you are all finished, kindly drop off any creations at ARL Main or ARL Animal Services during normal business hours!
If you are a current volunteer, sign in to your VicNet Profile to log your hours.

Interested in donating yarn, or have a favorite shop?

The ARL is looking for local yarn shops to host donation bins for yarn skeins that aren’t quite big enough to make a sweater, but purr-fect for making a cat blanket!

We accept donations of standard acrylic yarn and knits. We cannot accept long-fibered yarn (i.e., eyelash yarn, roving wool, etc).

Yarn

The ARL receives generous donations of yarn from local yarn shops and local knitters. Volunteers may use their own yarn or the donated yarn. Donated yarn can be picked up in the Volunteer Services Office at ARL Main on weekdays from 12 – 6 p.m. or 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on weekends.
