The DNA mystery begins Sept. 26.

What breeds are hiding in your dog’s DNA? Shepherd? Labrador Retriever? Terrier? Or a surprising mix that’s all their own?

Join us for DNA Day and discover the story behind your pup’s unique traits with a DNA test kit available for just $69 (regularly $75). There’s no sales tax, and 100% of proceeds support homeless pets at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. 

Whether you’re hoping to confirm your best guess or uncover a completely unexpected family tree, every DNA result reveals something new.

How to participate:

  1. Reserve your kit below.
  2. Pick up your kit anytime between 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, in the lobby of ARL Main
  3. Swab your pup! Either bring your dog to the event, and our team can assist with their cheek swab, or get their sample at home!
  4. Send your kit to the lab, and you’ll receive your results in just a few weeks!

Pricing and availability

Promotional pricing is only available on September 26. We will accept walk-ins, but please note that DNA Kits not reserved will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis based on how many kits we have available that day. 

If you cannot attend the event but are still interested in purchasing a kit, visit the ARL’s Animal House store during normal business hours to purchase a kit at our standard retail price of $75.

Fine print:

We welcome friendly dogs of all sizes and breeds and their responsible owners. For the safety of your dog and others, female dogs should not be in heat and please check with your veterinarian to make sure your dog is up to date on all of its vaccinations. Dogs must be leashed and under control of their owner at all times. No retractable leashes, choke chains, or prong collars are allowed.
