We’d never seen so many fleas on such tiny kittens. When the ARL rescue team arrived, we found 21 cats and kittens living in a filthy, bug-infested Des Moines home. The cats were in bad shape, but it was the 14 kittens – many just days old – that were suffering the most.
Hazel is in desperate need of help. She arrived emaciated, dehydrated and so frail she could not walk. She had clearly been starving for a very long time.
When the ARL got the urgent call from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office to assist with the removal of 46 horses – many injured and thin, with little to no food and water – our rescue team quickly prepared for our largest horse rescue operation in years.
It happened again. Late in the day, we received a call from law enforcement asking us to help rescue dozens of animals from horrible conditions. There were 60 dogs and cats living inside the property, where, sadly, deceased dogs had also been found.
The ARL Mobile Rescue team has been deployed to remove hundreds of dogs from commercial breeders and puppy mills over the last few months, and the latest call for help was just days ago
When Moe arrived, he was covered in fleas and ticks and we could see every rib. He was just 6 months old, and already so sick. We began treatment, but his condition quickly turned critical.
Nine dogs who had been living in a cramped, filthy wire kennel inside a Webster City home are now safe at the Animal Rescue League after our Mobile Rescue Team was called to assist Webster City Police with a case of alleged animal neglect on Valentine’s Day.
Litter after litter, the puppies keep coming. It’s been nonstop – every week, more underage puppies arriving at the ARL looking for a chance at survival. We’ve already taken in 100+ MORE puppies than last year at this time … and they keep coming! They need your help!
A few days ago when our team arrived to begin caring for the dozens of horses at our Second Chance Ranch, there he was: A clumsy, adorable foal gazing wide-eyed at the world.
