– Shy girl who will need time to get used to a new home and family; looking for patient people who will treat her with understanding as she decompresses and builds trust

– Once she’s comfortable with you, she’ll offer a paw or nudge you for attention

– Loves settling down in her safe spaces, but can be persuaded to explore other areas for some pets and treats

– Loves burrowing under blankets and creates little forts for herself

– Startles easily by loud noises, and may do best in a calm, quiet home and with a well-fitting collar or harness on walks

– Appears to be potty trained in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule

– Is used to being crated when her foster family is at work; may need a little convincing to go in, but once she’s there she settles well; may also do fine free-roaming

– Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for her (mature home recommended)

– Tends to avoid other dogs and can be socially awkward; may need some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; has been neutral toward the dogs in her foster home but is becoming more curious and tentatively playful – she’ll just need dog friends who can be neutral in her presence for a while so she has a chance to warm up (dog intro required)

– Has been living with cats in her foster home and pretty much pretends they don’t exist; neither afraid nor interested in them

– Has an unusual coat – some places she has fur and some she does not – and it appears to be just how she is

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
