– The perfect houseguest – well mannered, seldom barks, and welcomes strangers to the house kindly

– Wants to be with her people, but settles nicely on her own as well

– Her eyesight and hearing may not be 100%; needs time to adjust to new spaces and uses her nose to acclimate to her surroundings

– Has been fully potty trained in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine

– Enjoys an occasional slow walk

– Needs some assistance getting in and out of the car

– Kennels well but can be left free-roaming without issue

– Has good recall when she’s outside

– Would prefer a calmer home with someone looking for a steady, loyal companion; young, active or busy kids may be too much for her at this time

– Can be nervous around new dogs at first, and rough and tumble dogs will likely be too much for her (dog intro required)

– Enjoys the little things in life – simply being with her human is enough

This pet is considered to be in their senior years and may enjoy calmer activities and environments. They may also have medical or behavior needs related to their age. Click here for tips for making a comfortable life for senior pets.

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
