HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email petbehavior@arl-iowa.org.

– Very goofy guy who will seek out attention and stand in your lap while you’re petting him

– Loves tennis balls and tug-of-war and just loves to play and be active in general; happiest when he has frequent walks or other outlets for his energy

– May prefer to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he’s in a loving home environment and has had time to decompress

– Loves car rides and will sit in the back patiently

– Has a unique ridge of fur on his back – very handsome!

– Not the biggest fan of being in a kennel and may need some help feeling comfortable when left alone

– Young kiddos might overwhelm this fella – he’s looking for an adults-only family right now

– Can be very awkward and unsure of other dogs, and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow, careful introduction to new dogs (dog intro required)

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
