– Came from a situation where she did not get the structure and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age. Because of this, she is looking for a patient, mature home with family members who understand that she’ll need time to settle in and learn new things, such as potty training, leash conditioning and crate-training. – Will do best with slow, controlled introductions to new dogs, and if she goes to a home with other dogs, management techniques may be needed to help her build confidence and feel comfortable with her dog housemates and sharing resources; those techniques could include supervised playtime, baby gates, multiple water stations, feeding separately and others – and we’re happy to discuss these things with you and answer any questions you have when you visit – May also need supervision while outside to help keep her safe and secure This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
