HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org. — – Very relaxed and content to lounge and hang out with his people – Can also be a curious boy and will be a fun companion when you want to get out and about – Has never met a stranger and loves meeting new people – Loves all food and treats – Favorite toys are crinkly soft ones or anything he can toss into the air; foster family says he also enjoys carrying around their cats’ toys – Does great in the car and has mastered hopping in on his own – Very nice on a leash and mostly stays right next to your side, may venture off every so often but will come right back – Can be nervous in the big wide world and prefers to stick with you when possible – Likes sleeping up his back tucked up against the wall; has never heard of personal space and will make himself at home on any couch, bed or blanket – Wakes up with lots of eye boogies in the morning and will appreciate if you clean them off first thing when you wake up – Can be a bit vocal in his crate when his family first leaves, but settles well after a little time (enrichment like a lick mat also helps!) – Has only had one accident in his foster home and does a great job of holding it inside; still learning that he can go potty while on a leash and may prefer a fenced-in yard, but is figuring out going on the leash with time – Can be uncomfortable around fast movements so may do best in a more mature family – Has done fabulously with the dogs and cats in his foster home; can sometimes be a little rowdy for the cats but listens well when asked to stop – Would love a dog friend to romp around with – Has interacted with rabbits through a baby gate and seems curious about them All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
