HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.

– Shy pup who may need extra time to warm up to new people and things; will likely open up in a home environment with patience and time and may prefer a calm, quiet home

– Once she feels comfortable, she loves spending time with people

– Has been working on confidence-building and relationship-building, and we have seen improvements; would benefit from a family who can continue working with her on these things

– Walks nicely on a leash

– Doing well with potty training in her foster home and has only had a few accidents; may still need a little help in her new home to get her all the way there

– Has been fantastic with kids (school-age and teens) in her foster home

– Has been doing well with the dogs in her foster home now that she feels comfortable with them; at first she was concerned about them being around her food, but that anxiety and guarding lessened after about a week; will likely need time to adjust to new dogs, and management of food (such as feeding in different rooms) may be be needed until she has time to form relationships (dog intro recommended)

– Loves the cat in her foster home, and they often cuddle together

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
