HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet him, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.

– Total goofball who loves to do everything he can with his people, whether it’s cuddle on the couch, hang out while they make dinner, or play with any toy he can find

– Has lots of energy and loves running outside

– Super smart, and already knows sit, shake, down, stay and come and would likely enjoy learning more skills

– Very curious about new people and always wants to say hi to people on walks

– Does well on a leash; wants to sniff everything he can on walks, but has also enjoyed going on runs with his foster family

– Loves car rides; very calm and enjoys looking out the windows

– Foster family says he is a slobber machine and will drool while he watches you cook or while waiting for treats

– Will love a home and yard with lots of space to let his energy out

– Foster family says he does not seem to mind being left home alone

– Foster family says he appears to be potty trained, just remember any dog may take time to adjust to a new schedule and routine

– Has interacted nicely with children in his foster home, but may prefer a quieter, more mature home

– May do OK with like-minded dogs but can be choosy about the dogs he is around and doesn’t always like to share his space or things with them; would likely be happiest as the only dog in his home (dog intro required)

– Needs a home with no cats

– Prefers a less-is-more approach during vet visits and would benefit from a veterinarian who uses Fear Free techniques

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
