Stella
Animal ID: 273905 |
![]() |
– Can be active, but also loves to sleep in her comfy bed – Enjoys playing with stuffed toys and rope toys – Loves attention and wants to be involved in everything you’re doing – Recently went on a Dog’s Day Out field trip and had a great time with her human companions: “Stella is such a sweet girl. She was quiet as a mouse and was so happy to get out and get some exercise! She loved going in the car and would have curled up in my lap if I let her. I know she would do great with anyone who wants an active sweet girl but also a snuggly couch potato!” – Knows sit, loves going on walks and does best with a harness – Spent time in a foster home and did well with crate-training and potty training; has also been potty trained here in the shelter; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine – Did well in an attached-living situation (apartment/condo), and was very quiet – Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for her (mature home recommended) – Can be socially awkward and uncomfortable with dogs, especially when she first meets them; has done OK with other dogs in a home setting but occasionally struggles; we think she’d probably like dog friends but may prefer to have them outside her home vs. living with her (dog intro recommended) – We don’t know her history with cats – Has mild to moderate hip dysplasia in both hips; also likely has allergies (more info at ARL) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
