HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org. — – Amazing sweet boy who can be a little shy with new people but warms up quickly and is very gentle and considerate – Loves his toys! – Likes going on walks and overall does well on a leash – Has been housetrained here in the shelter; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule – Previous family said he is still working on crate-training and does best in a plastic crate – Has lived with kids and did well with them, but very young ones might be a bit much, so we think he may do best in a more mature home – Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro required) – Lived with cats and would touch noses with them from time to time but generally gave them distance – Previous family said he may have had separation-related anxiety when one of the family members started a full-time job, but that he had done very well previously when the family left him to run errands; to set adopters up for success we will provide info about working on separation-related anxiety if it should occur This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
