HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet him, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.

– Came from a situation where she did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age. Because of this, she may struggle with new situations, may show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, may need help understanding leashes, and will need patience and structure with housetraining.

– Handsome guy who is still quite reserved and will take a while to warm up; currently will sniff his foster family’s hands and legs but is still reluctant to be touched or take treats out of their hands

– Really lights up around his dog friends and loves to run and play in the snow with them; he likes to hear himself talk and lets his companions know when he wants to play

– Not fully potty-trained yet, but has been doing well with pads in his foster home

– Likes to chew on plush things

– Loves chicken and boiled eggs as treats

– Does best when he has at least one dog friend, and other dogs really help him build confidence and feel more comfortable; because of this, he must have a confident dog friend in his new home that he can continue learning from

– Has done well with cats in his foster home

– May not do well in a busy home with young children

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
