HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org — – Busy, outgoing boy who likes attention and loves to explore – Fun cat who is full of energy and gets lots of zoomies throughout the day – He loves cat treats and has a good appetite – Likes to play and especially enjoys chasing toys and other fun things to keep active – Will talk to himself as he walks around to explore – too adorable! – Loves other cats, and will likely enjoy another FIV+ friend in his new home This cat has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats. More info is on this cat’s kennel, but if you have questions, please consult your regular veterinarian before adoption. All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) |
