HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email Lora at lrogers@arl-iowa.org. — – Sweet, quiet, happy girl who was initially a little shy in the shelter environment, but once she has people she feels safe with, she is friendly and loving to everyone – Loves being with people, whether she’s hanging out close to you or actively cuddling – Likes playing with toys and is meticulous about freeing the stuffing from stuffies! – Loves comfy dog beds and soft blankets – Rides well in the car, does great on a leash, and likes sniffing around outside – In her foster home, she has been a polite houseguest, and when her people are not home she has done well both free-roaming and quietly in a kennel – Her foster family said she has no potty accidents if they take her outside regularly and keep her on a schedule; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine – Has not been around young kids while in our care, but we think she may benefit from a home with more mature family members who can help her settle into her new home and continue to gain confidence – Tended to avoid some dogs in the shelter environment, but in her foster home she has done well with resident dogs and other dogs she has met – Did fine with the cats in her foster home and basically ignored them – Arrived with an old injury to one of her front legs and had her leg amputated here at the shelter; gets around great on just three legs now – it doesn’t slow her down a bit! All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
