HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org – Very sweet and shy kitty – A gentle, sweet cat who is very motivated by food – that is the way to her heart – Enjoys playing with string toys – Will thrive as the only cat in her new home – Children are not a good fit for her, so she is looking for a more mature home – Will thrive as the only cat in her new home, but if you do have another cat, it will need be a cat who will be a laid-back companion for her, and not in her face – Looking for a home with patient family members who will give her time to open up and let her take things at her own pace. She does best when she starts out in her own room and is slowly introduced to the rest of the house and other pets over a few weeks – Has a lot of love to give and will be a wonderful companion for a quiet person or two who will allow her to settle in at her own slow pace. Please plan on giving her plenty of time in her new home. She is worth the wait! – Will be a terrific friend for a calm, patient person who loves the quiet life just like she does – Was very fearful when she arrived at the shelter, but she has been coming out of her shell and is a total sweetheart with the people she feels comfortable with – This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We’ve seen good progress here at the ARL, but don’t be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first – maybe for quite a while – and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience, and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life! All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age) |
