Additional Details

– Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he’s in a home environment and has had time to decompress

– Once he finds his people, he is happy to play with toys, enjoy snuggles and pets, and eat plenty of treats

– Recently went on a Dog’s Day Out field trip and had a great time with his human companions: “He’s just a big sweetie – very chill, very easygoing, good on the leash.”

– Does well in the car

– Can be a couch potato at times and is always down for a nap at home with you

– Knows sit and shake and loves to learn – especially if you have treats – so he’d be a lot of fun to train

– Will do best in a home where all residents are mature enough to read his signals and respect his space, both when he’s awake and resting

– Enjoys like-minded dog friends and might benefit from a confident dog friend in his new home

– Has some arthritis in his back legs and may prefer shorter walks to long ones; also may have allergies (more info at ARL)

This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
