HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet him, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org. — – Curious, gentle and well-behaved — a Very Good Boy who loves people! – Took part in a recent media segment and and was the STAR of the show: “Every person he meets is his friend and every lap is his to crawl into. He especially loves if you have some snacks for him to gobble down! He was so polite and just wanted all the pets and all the love.” – Has been spending time in a foster home, and his family said he is a polite houseguest – even at dinnertime – and is also quiet in the house when they’re away – Foster family says he is calm and quiet most of the time but can get excited and playful, likes to play tug and chew on squeaky toys – Loves to smell all the smells on walks and may do best with a harness – Has been fantastic in the car and is excited to go and to be with you; has done well with a dog seat belt – Loves getting pup cups on drives – Has been housetrained and crate-trained in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine – Knows sit and is very treat-motivated – Can be socially awkward with other dogs and tries hard to initiate play; will do best with another friendly dog who will be OK with his initial awkwardness and rough-and-tumble play style (dog intro recommended) – May do well in a home with cats after a slow introduction – Was very curious about the rabbit in his foster home – We don’t know his history with kids This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
