HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.

- What a wondrful cat! He is so friendly with everyone he meets, and he drools like mad if someone gives him attention!

- Elvis (named because he's a hunk of burning love!) is one special cat with tons of personality

- He loves everyone he meets and wants to spend time with his people and is always close by

- At night he will sleep at the foot of the bed, or, if you let him, he'll cuddle up in your arms

- A total love bug who doesn't like to be left alone - he truly enjoys his humans and will flourish with someone who works from home or at least isn't gone for long stretches of time

- Enjoys playing with with wand toys or string but he's not particularly fond of mice or balls, but does love catnip!

- His weight keeps him off the counters (he can't jump that high) and he has wonderful litter habits

- His purr is loud and strong and will melt your heart

- Will likely tolerate kids of all ages if they love him and play with him

- An all around amazing cat looking for a wonderful forever home (and after you meet him, you'll wonder how anyone could ever give him up!)

This cat has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats. More info is on this cat's kennel, but if you have questions, please consult your regular veterinarian before adoption.

All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age)
