Additional Details
- Likes being with his people and can be cuddly once he is comfortable; enjoys looking out windows and being outdoors with his humans
- Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip and had a great time with his human companions: "He is very friendly and loving. He is high energy and loves being outside, so someone that likes going on runs, hikes, and stuff like that would be perfect for him. He's very good on a leash, but when he gets excited about something or wants to check something out, he'll pull a little. If you walk, run, or go past another dog or person, he will stay next to you. He loves having the window down in the car, but would rather be in the front seat with you than the back seat. He's the best boy you'll ever meet!"
- Smart and extremely treat-motivated; already knows sit, down and shake and takes treats very nicely
- Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter and will likely open up more in a home environment once he has had time to decompress
- Can be a little sensitive around his neck and ears and may not be a dog who likes hugs; may be most comfortable with a harness for walks
- Needs a teens-and-up home right now
- Can be awkward in his interactions with other dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in his home (dog intro required)
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
