HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. - Jake had surgery to repair right luxating patella on 6/20/24. Patellar luxation is the displacement of the patella (kneecap) from its normal anatomic position in the groove of the femur. Potential complications can include but are not limited to the need for additional surgery, walking with a limp, favoring his leg or he may develop arthritis in his knees. He may require additional medications, joint supplements, or treatments. We recommend that Jake's activity be limited until 8/15/24. His activity should slowly be increased after 8/15 to prevent him from over using his legs.
We encourage any potential adopters to consult with their veterinarian prior to adoption. If you choose to give this cat a chance and adopt her, you do so with the understanding that any future diagnostics and treatments will be at your discretion and cost. You will need to sign a medical waiver stating you are aware of the aforementioned condition.
