– A stoic guy who warms up fairly quickly; loves being around people he knows and trusts – Really likes toys and can be an energetic player once he settles in; may need some help remembering his manners – Knows sit, down, shake and stay; likes treats and is food-motivated – Previous family said he was housetrained and crate-trained in their home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule – Strangers, crowds, some dogs, and loud noises like fireworks and thunder can make him anxious – Looking for a teens-and-up home right now to set him up for success – May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others (his previous family said he tends to do better with female dogs and dogs that are smaller than him); does best with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro required) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you’re interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org. This pet is considered to be in their senior years and may enjoy calmer activities and environments. They may also have medical or behavior needs related to their age. Click here for tips for making a comfortable life for senior pets. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. |
