– Has a passion for playing ball and also loves chewing on bones

– Likes cuddling and loves to chill in the sun and roll on his back in the grass

– May prefer to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he’s in a home environment and has had time to decompress

– Recently went on a Dog’s Day Out field trip: “He is an incredibly sweet boy who loves getting pets and loves giving kisses, especially on your face. We took him for a walk, hung out on the couch watching football, and hung outside on the deck watching golfers play on the course we live on. Loki had his tennis ball in his mouth most of the day and liked when we threw it for him.”

– Knows sit, down, off, and come and is very food-motivated – would be fun to train once he has settled into his new home

– Does best with a harness on walks

– Was fully housetrained and crate-trained in his previous home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine

– His previous family said he’s a little on the nervous side and knows his kennel as his safe zone; will kennel himself when he is feeling anxious

– Can be stressed during storms and fireworks

– Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him (mature home recommended)

– Can be socially awkward and unsure how to act around other dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in his new home (dog intro required)

– Has lived with cats and did fine with them

– May have allergies and may require regular ear cleanings (more info at ARL)

The ARL’s shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
