– Extremely sweet, affectionate cat who loves to be held and snuggled

– Loves to play, especially with balls in a circle track toy

– Will do best in a home that has carpet or lots of rugs, since wood or linoleum floors are more difficult for her to navigate

– Looking for a calm, low-traffic home where life is predictable and she will not have access to stairs

– Has lived with another cat, and may do well with a calm, mellow cat friend in her new home

– May do well with older children who are gentle with her, and will want to hold and snuggle her

– Has been diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia or “wobbly cat syndrome”. This condition is typically caused by exposure to the feline distemper virus before birth up or to two weeks of age. Fortunately, this cat can eat, drink, and use a litter box without assistance. The condition is non-progressive, meaning the animal’s coordination should not get worse. There is no treatment for cerebellar hypoplasia. The ARL recommends that this animal live indoors only and have access to non-spill food dishes. Most cats have a good quality of life.

This cat is part of our Silver Paw Pets program, a foster and adoption program for pets who arrive at the ARL after their owner either passed away or was moved to a care facility where they could not take their pet. If you’re interested in adopting this pet, please visit the location it’s at or reach out if there is contact info listed above. If you’d like to foster this pet or another Silver Paw Pet, please email Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org.

All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their ag
